Any one know what the real deal on ethanol in our gas is?

Im told ethanol in gas helps reduce emissions but as a mechanic I will say this. more ethanol is needed to burn at the same rate as gasoline, so by adding it to the gasoline we have to fill our tanks more often. BURNING MORE FUEL that produces more EMISSIONS! Ethanol is cheaper than gasoline but our gas prices are higher. So my question is is ethanol saving our enviroment? Or fueling the wealth of corruption? So when answering this question dont waste your time with the propeganda of the government and energy suppliers let me and them know what YOU think. Remember this sheep will follow each other right off a cliff if hearded in that direction. WAKE UP AMERICA!!!
